Draft Grade — Packers
Overall

FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for JD Bertrand, 51 picks ahead of schedule.
Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
However the rest shakes out, Melton at that price is a win they earned. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
They paid sticker price for Cooper DeJean in Round 1, Pick 28, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick47
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 58 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick88
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the 88th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Max Melton
The board had Max Melton higher than the 91st overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
A tidy little value on Cole Bishop in slot 107, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick126
Rnd4
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at the 126th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick128
Rnd4
Kitan Oladapo
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Kitan Oladapo adds a safety and leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots untouched.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A reach for Tommy Eichenberg in the 134th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick141
Rnd5
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse at pick No. 141 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169
Rnd5
JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at slot 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
