The 49ers did not so much draft Zach Calzada as overpay for him, 165 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Getting Slaughter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
