Mattzyla DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Cardinals, and a B to prove it. The Cardinals' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Every board in the league had Dorlus lower, and that gap is the story. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
They paid sticker price for Tyler Guyton in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the 35th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick71
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
They went early on Brandon Dorlus in the 71st overall pick, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at pick No. 90 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
