Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
Daniels is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: D-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Trajan Jeffcoat at the 250th pick, a reach of 53 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick15 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
No drama and no debate, Dallas Turner went about where he belonged in the 15th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick61 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in No. 61 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at pick No. 74, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper Beebe in the 79th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in pick 110; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick142 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams in pick 142 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick193 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
A real head-scratcher, JD Bertrand in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick199 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
They read the board right and M.J. Devonshire was the payoff at slot 199. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jawhar Jordan
They reached a country mile for Jawhar Jordan at the 245th overall pick, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick250 Rnd7 Trajan Jeffcoat
A big swing on Trajan Jeffcoat at No. 250, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
