Of all the ways to open, the Lions chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 93 on Max Melton with edge rusher, safety and other spots still wide open. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Nelson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
