Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Jets fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B-.

The Jets bet big and early on Jordan Travis, 69 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

However the rest shakes out, Thomas at that price is a win they earned. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, E.J. Speed chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at pick No. 35 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 36 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick50 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A quiet steal in the 50th overall pick: Payton Wilson for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick53 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
They talked themselves into Devontez Walker at Round 2, Pick 21, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
A tidy bit of business in slot 72, where Jaylen Wright graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 11 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at slot 162 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor in pick 185 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Blake Watson
Somehow Blake Watson was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
They barely believed it either: Nathan Thomas still on the board at the 257th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
