Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC-
Nobody dealt better than the Cardinals this weekend: B.

The Frank Crum pick is the one that will follow the Cardinals into the fall. They took him 79 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That Schrader pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 27th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
They read the board right and Brian Thomas Jr. was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick35 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
They talked themselves into Braden Fiske at No. 35, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick52 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Value with a capital V on Darius Robinson in pick No. 52, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
The board had Malachi Corley higher than the 65th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
A slide stopped in pick 66, with Kingsley Suamataia worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and the 71st pick is lovely value for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
A tidy bit of business in the 80th overall pick, where Devontez Walker graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick90 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at No. 90 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 102 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at pick 105 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Good price on Ben Sinnott in slot 137, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick141 Rnd5 Beau Brade
Beau Brade at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick161 Rnd5 Eric Watts
This one needs a full-page explanation: Eric Watts in Round 5, Pick 25, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick170 Rnd5 Steele Chambers
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Steele Chambers well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188 Rnd6 Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in No. 188 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick189 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at the 189th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick199 Rnd6 Andrew Coker
Andrew Coker in pick 199 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick222 Rnd7 Logan Lee
A wild overpay on Logan Lee in the 222nd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in slot 224, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240 Rnd7 Edefuan Ulofoshio
A premium they did not need to pay, Edefuan Ulofoshio a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241 Rnd7 Frank Crum
Frank Crum at pick No. 241 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
