Conviction outran the board for the Bills, and it cost them: F.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bills spent the 191st overall pick on Carson Steele, a name most had 44 spots down the list.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Jackson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at linebacker and tight end.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Hart to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
