Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Jones: B-. When a board-topper like Christian Jones slides to the Round 6 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In No. 29 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Fair-plus on Kingsley Suamataia, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at slot 99 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson is a better player than pick 129 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick156
Rnd5
Keith Randolph Jr.
No edge and no loss on Keith Randolph Jr. in Round 5, Pick 20; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick166
Rnd5
Moose Muhammad III
The board had Moose Muhammad III higher than the 166th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick200
Rnd6
Darius Muasau
Nothing to complain about; Darius Muasau went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick207
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
They did well to land Jawhar Jordan in the 208th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick250
Rnd7
Khordae Sydnor
Khordae Sydnor in Round 7, Pick 30 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
