Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Braelon Allen at pick 127 is 24 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Hardy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 2 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at pick No. 36 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They paid up for Sedrick Van Pran at slot 75 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick102 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 102nd pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A reach on Darius Robinson in Round 4, Pick 10; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in the 127th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 10 is lovely value for the tight end. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick186 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Fair-plus on Michael Barrett, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Daequan Hardy at slot 232. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
