Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Steelers.

Nobody had Joe Milton III this high, and it is not close. The Steelers reached 111 spots to get him at slot 98. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Landing Limmer that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at the 20th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick51 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 51 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick No. 84 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at slot 98 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick119 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Braelon Allen graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178 Rnd6 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at the 178th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick195 Rnd6 Tanner McLachlan
No drama and no debate, Tanner McLachlan went about where he belonged in the 195th pick. It fills a real need, too.
