Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Buccaneers would have aced it. Jalen Coker at the 220th overall pick is 31 spots clear of where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in slot 64. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in pick 93 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100 Rnd3 Maason Smith
They went early on Maason Smith in No. 100, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
They paid sticker price for Cedric Gray in the 113th overall pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick125 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at Round 4, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jalyx Hunt
They reached into another round for Jalyx Hunt, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson in the 139th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220 Rnd6 Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker at slot 220 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick246 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace in pick 246 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
