Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Solomon Byrd, 37 picks early at pick No. 220.
However the rest shakes out, Robinson at that price is a win they earned. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In pick 32 they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jaylen Wright
They jumped the gun on Jaylen Wright, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at Round 3, Pick 26 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick95
Rnd3
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 95 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick105
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A conviction pick on Cedric Gray at the 105th pick that the board grades a round light. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick113
Rnd4
Maason Smith
No drama and no debate, Maason Smith went about where he belonged in pick No. 113. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jaylin Simpson
The board had cheaper options than Jaylin Simpson at pick 125, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
A big swing on Jordan Travis at Round 5, Pick 4, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick159
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick220
Rnd6
Solomon Byrd
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Solomon Byrd. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight at the 246th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
