Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Cardinals walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The cost of the Phillips reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In slot 27 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at pick No. 43 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick66 Rnd3 Andru Phillips
A premium they did not need to pay, Andru Phillips a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick71 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 71st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A tidy bit of business in the 82nd pick, where Jeremiah Trotter Jr. graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
They did well to land Devontez Walker in pick 90, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
