Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Buccaneers: B.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Joe Milton III at slot 159, a reach of 41 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The bottom line is a respectable B.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In slot 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A wild overpay on Trey Benson in No. 70, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
A big swing on Cedric Gray at pick No. 92, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick100 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in pick 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 125th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 3 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
They reached a country mile for Jordan Jefferson at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick159 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in the 159th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick220 Rnd6 Tyrice Knight
Value said wait; Tyrice Knight in No. 220 says they were not listening. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
