Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Panthers: B-.

The Panthers put a flag in the ground for Clay Webb, 55 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

However the rest shakes out, Strong at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In pick 8 they get a wrecking ball inside. More want than need.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jalen Royals
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Royals at Round 2, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74 Rnd3 Josaiah Stewart
They will replay Josaiah Stewart at slot 74 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Mitchell Evans
A real head-scratcher, Mitchell Evans in No. 111 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick114 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Smael Mondon Jr.. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140 Rnd5 Clay Webb
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Clay Webb well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
Circle this one: Dorian Strong at pick 146 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jah Joyner
Nothing to complain about; Jah Joyner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
