Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Broncos let Johnson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Tez Johnson had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 15, and the Broncos did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Reaching for Robinson left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In pick 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the 51st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick62 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in No. 62 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick85 Rnd3 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at pick No. 85 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in Round 4, Pick 20 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at the 173rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick191 Rnd6 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick197 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Good price on Oronde Gadsden II in slot 197, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
They did well to land Jason Marshall Jr. in the 208th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
