Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesC+ FutureA
The Browns answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Cam Ward, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They banked enough surplus on Allen to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Bassa has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Conerly Jr.. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick65 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 1. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at pick No. 67, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A slide stopped in the 94th overall pick, with Andrew Mukuba worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips in No. 111 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
A reach for Jeffrey Bassa in the 114th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick179 Rnd6 LeQuint Allen
LeQuint Allen at pick 179 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick192 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
By-the-book stuff, Luke Lachey at the 192nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
The board had Jason Marshall Jr. higher than the 200th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
