Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chargers were there to profit. Tanner McLachlan, the No. 208 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 242nd pick. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Reed reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
