Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Patriots lost the trade table, and the B- tells the story.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Reaching for Rice left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Turner. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 JC Latham
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner at No. 34 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Adisa Isaac
Adisa Isaac at the 47th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in slot 68 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at pick 70 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Good price on Elijah Jones in pick No. 119, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at the 127th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd5 Johnny Wilson
A tidy bit of business in the 137th overall pick, where Johnny Wilson graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the 139th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick157 Rnd5 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at pick 157 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick177 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
They let Dwight McGlothern come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick180 Rnd6 Myles Cole
Myles Cole at slot 180 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Trey Knox
Trey Knox at pick No. 231 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
