FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent slot 154 on Rasheen Ali, a name the board had a full 105 spots lower.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Grable.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Graham Barton
They paid sticker price for Graham Barton in No. 25, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
A conviction pick on Kris Jenkins at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick 58 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88
Rnd3
Max Melton
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 25. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick126
Rnd4
Ty'Ron Hopper
Value said wait; Ty'Ron Hopper in the 126th pick says they were not listening. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick154
Rnd5
Rasheen Ali
They reached into another round for Rasheen Ali, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at the 169th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick245
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tylan Grable at No. 245. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor at slot 255 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
