Draft Grade — Titans
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 22: the Titans steal Dixon and grade out a A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Titans were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

Dixon at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Titans indulged a want in Ponds while a need in edge rusher, running back and other spots stayed open. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Colton Hood
In slot 31 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 CJ Allen
A tidy little value on CJ Allen in No. 35, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick55 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
They read the board right and Emmanuel Pregnon was the payoff at pick No. 55. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick63 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
A want over a need in the 63rd pick: D'Angelo Ponds adds a cornerback while edge rusher, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick101 Rnd4 Zakee Wheatley
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick131 Rnd4 Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in the 131st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick140 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick 140 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick142 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis in the 142nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick182 Rnd6 DJ Campbell
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in DJ Campbell. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 VJ Payne
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on VJ Payne. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick238 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Somehow Thaddeus Dixon was still sitting there in slot 238, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
