Truckley45 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Steelers for Beck: B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Beck at Round 6, Pick 35 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Steelers indulged a want in Bisontis while a need in interior defensive lineman and edge rusher stayed open.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Arch Manning
Good price on Arch Manning in No. 51, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cayden Green
They went early on Cayden Green in slot 76, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick84
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at the 84th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99
Rnd3
Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb at the 99th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119
Rnd4
Brendan Sorsby
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Brendan Sorsby for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
A curious use of pick No. 133. Interior defensive lineman and edge rusher needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Chase Bisontis did not.
Pick160
Rnd5
Hollywood Smothers
Hollywood Smothers in pick 160 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197
Rnd6
Antonio Kite
Nothing to complain about; Antonio Kite went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick212
Rnd6
Tree Babalade
Tree Babalade at the 212th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick213
Rnd6
Carson Beck
Carson Beck at the 213th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick234
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
Shamar Easter in slot 234 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
