Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB+
The Raiders won the night they stopped Hampton from sliding. Grade: B+.

The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Omarion Hampton fell into the 68th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
A tidy bit of business in slot 37, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at No. 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick68 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
No edge and no loss on Jalen Milroe in pick No. 89; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick108 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kevin Winston Jr. at the 108th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at the 117th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson in Round 5, Pick 5 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick222 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at slot 222 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
