The Patriots let Hill Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Patriots fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hill Jr.. Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Adding Justin Jefferson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
