Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Panthers: B.

The Panthers clearly saw something nobody else did in Tyler Batty, taking him 80 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jalen Royals
Jalen Royals at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A straight-up fair deal on Darien Porter at No. 74, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Majors at pick 111. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick114 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyler Baron well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick140 Rnd5 Sai'vion Jones
A tidy little value on Sai'vion Jones in pick No. 140, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at slot 146 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick163 Rnd5 Kobe King
Kobe King in Round 5, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton in the 227th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
