mhollander21 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers

TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in slot 243 lands the Packers a B, Smith and all. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Ainias Smith, the No. 131 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 243. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Colson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick 25 they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick41
Rnd2
Terrion Arnold
The board had Terrion Arnold higher than slot 41, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Somehow Tyler Nubin was still sitting there in No. 58, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
Taking Edgerrin Cooper in the 88th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91
Rnd3
Junior Colson
A curious use of pick No. 91. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Junior Colson did not.
Pick127
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
They barely believed it either: Braelon Allen still on the board at the 127th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo is a better player than Round 5, Pick 32 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick204
Rnd6
Dillon Johnson
Circle this one: Dillon Johnson at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216
Rnd6
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse in slot 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick243
Rnd7
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at pick No. 243 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251
Rnd7
Caedan Wallace
They robbed the room for Caedan Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
