mhollander21 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
Raym has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Oladapo. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the 25th overall pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
They paid sticker price for Tyler Nubin in pick 41, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Value said wait; Cooper Beebe in No. 58 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James in slot 88 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at pick No. 91, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Good price on Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A tidy bit of business in the 168th pick, where Kitan Oladapo graded well above the range. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick204
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
A reach for Garret Greenfield in Round 6, Pick 29; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216
Rnd6
Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym at No. 216 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jordan Magee
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Magee at pick 243 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick251
Rnd7
LaDarius Henderson
A clean, defensible pick in the 251st overall pick with a little surplus value in LaDarius Henderson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
