mhollander21 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Jacobs: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Reaching for Beebe left real value on the table behind him. The Jacobs value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
No edge and no loss on Tyler Nubin in No. 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They reached a country mile for Cooper Beebe at slot 58, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James at pick No. 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at the 91st pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Nothing to complain about; Javon Foster went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick168
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha is a better player than pick 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick204
Rnd6
Kendall Milton
Nice patience on Kendall Milton, who had no business lasting to the 204th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick243
Rnd7
Logan Lee
Logan Lee in Round 7, Pick 23 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick251
Rnd7
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at slot 251 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
