Draft Grade — Rams
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC FutureA
Good, not great, for the Rams: B.

There is reaching, and then there is Jaydon Blue at slot 102. The Rams jumped the board by 74 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Taylor at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick90 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Nice patience on Darien Porter, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 26. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick95 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
The board had Mason Taylor higher than the Round 3 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the 97th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A tidy bit of business in pick 101, where Charles Grant graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102 Rnd3 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at slot 102 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127 Rnd4 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at No. 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick190 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick195 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 195th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jason Marshall Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 201. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick202 Rnd6 Karene Reid
They went early on Karene Reid in No. 202, and the value did not follow. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick226 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
A straight-up fair deal on Desmond Watson at pick No. 226, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
