For all the boxes ticked, the 49ers skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Taylor pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Reaching for Milton III left real value on the table behind him.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
