Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA
The Browns let Bailey fall and pounced. Final grade: A. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched David Bailey slide 210 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Every board in the league had Ioane lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Rueben Bain Jr. and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In pick 17 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick21
Rnd1
Spencer Fano
In No. 21 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick22
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In the 22nd pick they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jordyn Tyson
They robbed the room for Jordyn Tyson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
This one needs a full-page explanation: Olaivavega Ioane in the Round 2 slot, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
Taking Sonny Styles in the 69th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick84
Rnd3
Trevor Goosby
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 20 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in slot 104 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Dillon Thieneman
Somehow Dillon Thieneman was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy in pick No. 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149
Rnd5
Joe Royer
They will replay Joe Royer at No. 149 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241
Rnd7
Luke Altmyer
They barely believed it either: Luke Altmyer still on the board at Round 7, Pick 24. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243
Rnd7
David Bailey
The board fumbled David Bailey all the way to slot 243, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
