mhollander21 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Trevin Wallace went at pick No. 126, a good 107 picks before the board was ready.
Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A clean, defensible pick in slot 41 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. in pick 58 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Blake Corum
Nothing to complain about; Blake Corum went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Hicks in No. 91. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126
Rnd4
Trevin Wallace
They reached into another round for Trevin Wallace, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick169
Rnd5
Javon Foster
Somehow Javon Foster was still sitting there in pick 169, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick202
Rnd6
James Williams
They robbed the room for James Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick219
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield at Round 6, Pick 44 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick245
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Proctor at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick255
Rnd7
Nick Gargiulo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nick Gargiulo in No. 255, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
