Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Devin Neal got past him. The Bears do not have to explain a thing at No. 193. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
