The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Texans reached some 155 spots for Julius Welschof, and value like that does not grow back.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Rakestraw Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
