There is conviction, and then there is this. The Texans took Julius Welschof a full 131 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Vaki pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback still on the board.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Corley. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
