Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-.

Nobody had McKade Mettauer this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 61 spots to get him at No. 219.

The Williams steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Hicks pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver and interior defensive lineman still on the board.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jared Verse
They read the board right and Jared Verse was the payoff at pick 25. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
They did well to land Kamren Kinchens in Round 2, Pick 9, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at No. 57 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in the 88th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
A surprising call. With wide receiver and interior defensive lineman still to address, they spent slot 91 on Jaden Hicks, a safety they were not short of.
Pick125 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in the 125th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick135 Rnd4 Will Shipley
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Will Shipley. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203 Rnd6 Erick All
They paid a round early for Erick All in No. 203, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick217 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sam Hartman in Round 6, Pick 42. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219 Rnd6 McKade Mettauer
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for McKade Mettauer. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick246 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
You do not let a running back like Miyan Williams reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
