Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Daniels is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a A-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

They are betting Jefferson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

Adding Derwin James Jr. by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 5th pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
By-the-book stuff, Rome Odunze at the 9th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick37 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
They paid sticker price for Chop Robinson in pick No. 37, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
A tidy little value on Ruke Orhorhoro in slot 75, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick122 Rnd4 Malik Washington
Malik Washington in No. 122 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
A wild overpay on Jordan Jefferson in pick 146, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
