Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Cowboys won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Cowboys should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 18 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28 Rnd1 Colton Hood
Colton Hood in the 28th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in pick 49, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jadarian Price
They took Jadarian Price at par in Round 2, Pick 27, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry slid further than he should have, and the 112th pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick150 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
No drama and no debate, Ted Hurst went about where he belonged in slot 150. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick177 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah at No. 177 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick221 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
A straight-up fair deal on Riley Mahlman at pick 221, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick225 Rnd7 PJ Williams
They paid sticker price for PJ Williams in slot 225, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
