Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B-. The Kris Abrams-Draine pick is the one that will follow the Bills into the fall. They took him 21 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Castles falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
Value said wait; Kris Abrams-Draine in the 99th pick says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
By-the-book stuff, Tommy Eichenberg at slot 128 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Jefferson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick165
Rnd5
McCallan Castles
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing McCallan Castles in pick 165. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick197
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 22 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 206 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249
Rnd7
Ja'Had Carter
Ja'Had Carter at No. 249 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
