Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureC-
The Chiefs won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Chiefs were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The Chiefs indulged a want in Hart while a need in quarterback, running back and other spots stayed open. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Trice to cover a lot of smaller sins.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
In pick 32 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at pick No. 43 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
The board had Bralen Trice higher than the 64th pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95 Rnd3 Cam Hart
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cam Hart adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick133 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They took Theo Johnson at par in No. 133, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick158 Rnd5 Malik Mustapha
A tidy little value on Malik Mustapha in Round 5, Pick 22, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick172 Rnd5 Caedan Wallace
The board had cheaper options than Caedan Wallace at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
