Best value of the weekend goes to the Jaguars for Emmanwori: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Nick Emmanwori tumbling to the Jaguars in the 36th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Conner proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Mason Graham
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason Graham. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick36
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to pick 36, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick70
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in No. 70 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Taking Quinshon Judkins in Round 3, Pick 24 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick106
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at pick No. 106 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125
Rnd4
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius slid further than he should have, and the 125th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jay Higgins
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jay Higgins in slot 143. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick184
Rnd6
Luke Elzinga
They paid a round early for Luke Elzinga in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick196
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
A conviction pick on Hayden Conner at the 196th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
They jumped the gun on Seth McLaughlin, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
