Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bills: B. Nobody had McKade Mettauer this high, and it is not close. The Bills reached 59 spots to get him at Round 7, Pick 26.
On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 60 with a little surplus value in Kingsley Suamataia. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Roman Wilson
They barely believed it either: Roman Wilson still on the board at Round 4, Pick 29. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Nothing to complain about; Tommy Eichenberg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick159
Rnd5
Sincere Haynesworth
They took Sincere Haynesworth at par in pick 159, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Frank Gore Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Frank Gore Jr. a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick197
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
A reach for De'Corian Clark in slot 197; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jha'Quan Jackson
Jha'Quan Jackson at Round 6, Pick 27 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
A swing that ignored the value entirely, J.J. Weaver well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick246
Rnd7
McKade Mettauer
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for McKade Mettauer. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick250
Rnd7
Daequan Hardy
Value with a capital V on Daequan Hardy in the 250th pick, a genuine coup. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
