Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureF
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a F.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dont'e Thornton Jr., 78 picks early at pick 106. It bottoms out at a F.

Stutsman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In the 6th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick7 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the 7th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Booker at pick 37 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyleik Williams. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick68 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson is a better player than pick No. 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dylan Sampson at No. 73. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick106 Rnd4 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick142 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
They paid sticker price for Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 5, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144 Rnd5 Roc Taylor
They talked themselves into Roc Taylor at the 144th pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178 Rnd6 Danny Stutsman
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to No. 178, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick212 Rnd6 Cody Simon
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cody Simon in pick No. 212, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jeffrey Bassa
Circle this one: Jeffrey Bassa at pick 216 is a fall that decides a draft. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick222 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in slot 222 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
