A franchise passer in Nix headlines a B weekend for the Patriots. The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Odunze falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Nix left real value on the table behind him.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the 10th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Rome Odunze
Circle this one: Rome Odunze at slot 34 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick43
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in pick No. 43 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68
Rnd3
Blake Corum
No edge and no loss on Blake Corum in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick72
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
They took Malachi Corley at par in Round 3, Pick 8, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at the 104th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
DJ James
No drama and no debate, DJ James went about where he belonged in No. 110. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick136
Rnd4
Will Shipley
Will Shipley in pick 136 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Dallin Holker
A straight-up fair deal on Dallin Holker at the 144th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182
Rnd6
Roger Rosengarten
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roger Rosengarten in pick No. 182. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick229
Rnd7
Darius Muasau
They liked Darius Muasau enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 229. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
