darock DRAFTING FOR THEBears

FutureA
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
On value alone, Odunze makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Booker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 4 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Michael Penix Jr.
In pick No. 9 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Rome Odunze
Circle this one: Rome Odunze at the 35th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick66
Rnd3
Austin Booker
A reach on Austin Booker in slot 66; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
No drama and no debate, Brandon Dorlus went about where he belonged in the 75th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
