The Bills did not so much draft Jamaree Caldwell as overpay for him, 91 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

They banked enough surplus on Skattebo to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
