Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys kept it disciplined and banked a B.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Cowboys walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They are betting Kearney proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Nwankpa at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 12 they get a centerpiece for the ground game, and a steal at that.
Pick20 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In No. 20 they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry at Round 4, Pick 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick150 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in slot 150 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick177 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick215 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 215 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick221 Rnd7 Roderick Kearney
The board had cheaper options than Roderick Kearney at the 221st pick, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225 Rnd7 PJ Williams
PJ Williams in the 225th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
