JAGUAR1 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Jaguars. The Jaguars bet big and early on Jawhar Jordan, 27 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Rosemy-Jacksaint steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In pick No. 17 they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cam Hart
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick113
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A reach on Johnny Wilson in the 113th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
No drama and no debate, Tyler Davis went about where he belonged in the 115th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick152
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dwight McGlothern in No. 152, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick192
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in Round 6, Pick 17 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Nice patience on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, who had no business lasting to the 212th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at No. 236 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
