There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took Harold Perkins Jr. a full 30 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will answer for taking linebacker early while interior defensive lineman went begging. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Lew steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
